Thousands of Indians entered indentured servitude hoping for a better future and a chance at a better life for their children. Black slavery was outlawed in the British Empire so they needed very cheap labor. The poor Indians were their answer. They lived hard lives and now many of their descendants are hoping to learn about them. This is an interesting article about this system and its ending.
