Alyce Smith Cooper
Alyce Smith Cooper, also known as 'The Golden Brown Fairy Godmother', has been an advocate for the arts, community growth and preservation for over 60 years. As a poet, storyteller, actress and TV talk show host Alyce is a champion for creativity, compassion and inclusion. Her work as a Registered Nurse, Chaplain and Ordained Minister garnered her inclusion into the Women's Museum of San Diego Hall of Fame in 2014. Currently she sits on the Playhouse Leadership Council of the La Jolla Playhouse and is a retired Elder from the African Methodist Episcopal Church. In 2015 Alyce collaborated with Dr. Judy Sundayo and Jamie Victoria Jones to publish 'The Gumbo Pot Poems'. This prize-winning book (available through Amazon.com), currently serves as a textbook in several San Diego colleges. Currently she is in process of writing the history of the Educational Cultural Complex for the San Diego Community College Continuing Education Department.
