The American Army Transport "Antilles" bound from Europe without troops was sunk by a German submarine. About 70 of the crew perished. The Antilles was a ship of 6878 tons and was owned by the Southern Pacific Railroad. She was built in 1907 and was taken over by the Government to transport troops to France.
