London has so many options for food that I decided to eat at a French restaurant. Maybe it was to get a break from all the meat pies and beer or maybe I was just longing for Paris…Don’t get me wrong, I love traditional English food but I wanted to branch out and see what a French dinner looked like. Brasserie Blanc was local to where I was staying and the menu looked fun. A few of my favorite items and a few that I had never even heard of. I am always looking for food that is new to me and Brasserie Blanc had a few dishes that I had not seen or eaten before. I was excited to be there!

I started off with the steak tartare because it is one of my favorite dishes, I order it every chance I get. It was just as decadent as I expected…

The second appetizer that I ordered was a verrine. A verrine is a catch all word for sweet or savory dishes served in a small glass. The bottom layer is guacamole. The middle layer is tarama. Tarama is basically fish roe with olive oil, lemon juice and bread or potato for the starch element, blended into a paste. The topping is fish roe. It was salty and creamy and rich. I don’t know if I liked it but I was happy to try something new…

A classic fillet mignon cooked to perfection, served with a roasted tomato and fresh green beans…

A free-range beef burger served on a brioche bun with a side salad…

Dessert was amazing and very french. A tarte bourdaloue is a pear almond tart and it was as delicious as it was beautiful! Sweet and earthy with a crispy shell and just a hint of almond. It was heavenly…

Just as beautiful and artistic was the Lemon Tartlette. Expertly toasted meringue and a sweet berry sauce that complimented the tangy lemon filling…

I really enjoyed my meal at Brasserie Blanc. The dining room was casual and comfortable. We never felt rushed and the staff was very friendly and attentive. I got to order a few classics and a few “new to me” dishes which always make for an unforgettable experience.
