Interview: with Asha Gass

Passion, patience, and love. These are just some important values of the skincare and beauty business SweetEssence. SweetEssence is a San Diego-based – esthetician business that provides people with the best skincare treatments catered to their skin type. Once you enter SweetEssence, you will walk out as a brand new person with glowy skin. On July 25th, 2022, I was blessed with the opportunity to interview the one and only Asha Gass, owner and creator of SweetEssence. She is a great example of a leader and hustler in the San Diego community.

Today I sat and talked with Asha Gass. I was able to get to know who she is as a person and what brought her to this path of beauty and skincare. A truly beautiful soul inside and out. Asha was born and raised in San Diego, and she developed her passion for this field growing up from doing her makeup on herself and even her siblings to people constantly asking her what her skin routine was in her college days. She then realized that she could do something, something that could help out others with that being beauty and skincare as a career. She attended esthetician school to become a licensed esthetician post-college once she realized that getting a degree didn't bring her in quote, "no joy or no passion".

Dynamics of the Black Community - This course is an introduction to the varying dynamics of the Black community. Emphasis is placed on creating an appreciation for the Black community's unique attributes, resources, and contributions to the larger community. Students visit Black community organizations, institutions and/or businesses to identify a critical need and to develop a corresponding action plan.
