Jake Norwood, CKDF's Founder, leads this discussion on the "Common Fencing."
The Gemeynes Fechten, or “Common Fencing,” is a theoretically constructed style for fencing with the longsword based on mostly Germanic sources from the late 14th through late 16th centuries. Inspired by Liechtenauer’s admonition not to do as “common fencers” do, the Gemeynes Fechten consists of techniques and solutions to fencing problems that are thought to have been universal to longsword fencers throughout the time period.
